Help to the rescue!

Power and Pro users can add videos to their galleries:

Power Users can upload DVD? quality video clips up to 2.5 minutes in length.

Pros can add stunning HD? video up to 5 minutes in length - 10 min. at DVD? quality. HD videos between 5 and 10 minutes are automatically rendered in DVD quality, no sweat!

Can't wait to make your global directorial debut? Standard users can upgrade here.

Gotcha: All videos have a file size limit of 512MB.

Stuff to know:

1. Uploader:

Use the Simple or Olde Faithful uploader. When you click the add photos button?, we usually remember the uploader you used last time and take you to it. But near the bottom of the page on the left you'll see a link that says, "Try another uploader." Click that and choose Simple (first on the list) or Olde Faithful (last on the list).

2. Format:

No worries, 99% of the time we can convert from whatever you upload to the ever-so-cool h.264 format, which works on iPods, iPhones, AppleTV, PlayStations, and many other consumer devices.

But what comes off your camera could be bloated and take a long time to upload. So you might consider using a program like MPEG Streamclip or Quicktime Pro to convert to h.264 before uploading.

3. Patience!

We can't convert your videos as fast as we can prepare still images for display. It could be a while before a video is visible in your gallery but good things come to those who wait.

4. Nuked:

We don't keep a copy of the original video you upload. We make high-quality display copies, which are probably altered from what you send us.

5. Display copies:

We support web? and DVD? resolutions for Power users. If you upload higher resolution than that, we convert to those two. The same applies to Pro videos between 5 and 10 minutes in length.

6. Two sizes:

We make both web and DVD-resolution display copies if your video is DVD-resolution or higher so that your adoring fans can still view it with small monitors or slow connections.

7. SmugMungous video!

Pro subscribers: make jaws drop to the floor by adding videos up to 1280x720p!

No worries, we still make the web and DVD display sizes in case your adoring fans can't view 1280 videos.

We also support 960x540x30p. We store 1280x720 as well as 960x540 if the video is 1280x720 or above. If the video is between 960x540 and 1280x720, we just store the 960x540.

8. Pearls of wisdom:

They fall from the lips of other Smug Mugs who'd love to hear yours too.
